[128] Moved from Mannheim, Germany in 1663, sailing from Amsterdam on the Bontekoe
(The Spotted Cow). Settled in a Huguenot village on Staten Island for two
years and then moved to Harlem. He was known as David D'Amerex on Staten
Island. He moved to New Jersey on 1 May 1678. He purchased 2000 acres of
land in New Jersey from the Tappan Indians, called the French Patent (between
the Hackensack and Hudson Rivers).
