Vacationing with the Web The end of summer is here. But the holidays are coming and you may be planning a trip. You may be wondering how the internet can help you out. The web has many different pages that can help plan and arrange your travel plans. If you are still trying to decide where to go, try doing a search on a search engine for an activity that you like. Some of the pages it finds may help you make up your mind on where to go. Sites like www.travel.com, www.expedia.com, and www.travelocity.com have some packages set up and it might help to browse what they offer. If you are in to outdoor activities like hiking/camping try the Great Outdoors Recreation Page at www.gorp.com It has links to many pages of places to go, many of them with reviews. Once you have chosen a place to go, where you are going may require a flight. The travel sites listed above can let you do a search for a plane flight that meets your needs. You can even book the flight and buy the tickets. They also let you look for hotel rooms at your destination. They will not list all of the places to stay since each site will only list the ones that have paid them a fee to be listed. Another resource to try is to look for the web page of a chamber of commerce for your destination. They will usually have more places listed including some of the smaller ones like the beds & breakfasts. For saving money on your trip try www.priceline.com which lets you put in a bid for flights or hotels at a specific price and tries to get companies to match your offer. If you are driving to your destination you may
want driving directions on how to get there. www.mapquest.com can give
you a map and directions of how to get from one place to another. It has
pretty much every street in the U.S. but more limited coverage out side
of it. | ||||
